Electromotive process control valves

When it comes to ensuring quick and precise control in the context of process automation, and in situations where compressed air is either unavailable, not desired or uneconomical, the electromotive process control valves by fluidics specialist Bürkert (see company box) really play to their strengths. Designed as seat or diaphragm valves, they offer a precise and energy-efficient alternative to pneumatic, spring-balanced valves.

Electromotive process control valves approach the required position virtually instantaneously and without overshooting. They maintain this position regardless of the media pressure, ensuring outstanding control accuracy. The intelligent valves also offer numerous possibilities for process optimization and straightforward networking, for example, using the intelligent device platform EDIP (Efficient Device Integration Platform) from the same manufacturer.

Seat valves: Precise control at high speed

The electromotive seat valves represent a family of process control valves that set new benchmarks for performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. The electromotive angle seat and globe valves (Type 3360 and 3361) by Bürkert are exceptionally fast with a control speed of 6 mm/s and a closing time of just 3 to 4 seconds. This puts them in the same league as pneumatic valves. Depending on your requirements, you can set the control speed to specific applications, define electric stroke and closing restrictions, and approach end positions smoothly. The optional energy pack ensures that the safety position is approached in the event of a power outage. An additional emergency manual adjustment is also provided. The actuator surface features a very hygienic design and complies with the EHEDG directive (European Hygienic Engineering and Design Group). The range of applications extends from steaming baked goods, controlling water during the bleaching of textiles and hot water regulation in dairies all the way to mobile temperature control systems and pressure control in engine test benches or cooling circuits.

Diaphragm valves for demanding control tasks

For challenging control tasks in areas involving direct media contact, for example, in the food, beverage and tobacco industries, the cosmetics, pharmaceutical or biopharma industries as well as in water treatment, the diaphragm valves (Type 3363) from Bürkert are the perfect choice. They are available with plastic or stainless steel bodies. Their electric actuator with recirculating ball screw positions the diaphragm almost instantaneously, accurately and with unusually high control speeds of up to 4 mm/s, which can be varied to suit your system design. The valve position remains unaffected by pressure fluctuations or surges in the medium. The actuator force can be precisely adapted to the operating conditions, thereby maximising diaphragm service life. An optional energy pack enables the safety position to be approached if necessary in the event of a power outage. Useful functions for process control, valve diagnostics and preventive maintenance are also provided. Thanks to their high IP protection and insensitivity to impacts and oscillations, these valves can handle challenging environmental conditions with ease.
